50th anniversary family Moon Day

20th July 2019 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

On 20 July 1969 the first person walked on the moon, and the sample of moon rock within the Museum’s collection was brought back to Earth. We’ll have moon samples that we are borrowing from NASA and you can put your face through the Buzz Aldrin cut out to have your photo taken actually holding a piece of the moon!

Cardiff Astronomical Society will have a stand full of moon landing memorabilia and Usk Astronomical Society will bring their inflatable planetarium so you can gaze at the night sky.

We’ll also have games and activities for all the family to get involved with – make your own space helmet or play with our planets! Listen to tales of outer space with interactive storytellers La, La, La, have a selfie in front of the giant moonscape or have your face glittered up so you look out of this world!

Storytelling sessions at 11.30pm, 12.30pm, 2pm and 3pm.

Charge for face painting.
