‘Learn to be an Astronaut’
21st July 2019 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

‘Learn to be an Astronaut’ is a free science fun day.
The event is hosted by the Institute of Physics, Thomas Hardye School and Dorchester Town Council.
Come and take part in a range of ‘tests’ involving local scientists and learn about what it takes to be an astronaut.
We will provide you with an astronaut training card and you will be invited to take part in lots of fun activities to evaluate your mental and physical abilities and show you the skills you need to survive a space mission.
Plus there will be science demonstrations and interactive talks about our universe – aimed at children, but with something for people of all ages to enjoy.
You will get to meet astronomers, astrophysicists, chemists, engineers, physicists, mathematicians and rocket scientists – including one who worked on the original Apollo 11 rocket!
Complete the tasks – and see if you might want to start thinking about applying to NASA and starting your space training for real! We will have refreshments on sale – but feel free to bring a picnic – and all the family.
We are encouraging people to come in space themed dress as well – so dust off your Star Trek outfits, put on your spacesuits, or come dressed as an alien – all are welcome!
