One Small Step, One Giant Celebration!

On July 20th 1969 the Apollo 11 space mission landed the first human beings on the moon. It is one of the most talked-about moments in history and considered as one of the greatest achievements of mankind. Join us at Catalyst to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the moon landing.
Come and meet trainee astronaut Dr Jackie Bell, star of the BBC Programme Astronauts : Do you have what it takes?
Additional activities will include :
~ Real moon rocks and meteorites on display
~ Planetarium Shows
~ Code-a-drone workshops – land a drone on the moon!
~ Moon themed ‘green screen’ – have your photo taken on the moon!
~ Solar telescopes
~ Hands-on science activities – rocket making, creating constellations, Lego
~ Community-led exhibition featuring schools STEAM project, ‘Memories of the Moon’ short film and items of memorabilia collected by people in the community
~ Performance of ‘The Planets’ by WSO Brass Qunitet
~ Dance performances, choir performances, drama performances
There will be two sessions for the activities in Catalyst, a morning (10 – 1) or an afternoon (2 – 5) session but please bring a picnic, make a day of it and enjoy the outside area where there will be a fun fair too!
Admission to this event will be FREE but tickets are limited and must be booked in advance on the Catalyst website.
